How we begin the process:
Storyboards

provide instructional design teams with a means to correspond with the clients, subject matter experts and developers. It should be viewed as an opportunity to collect, organize, and review content, provide visuals, give instructions, explain animations, and write narration. This is our needs assessment process.

There are several different formats for story boarding that vary in complexity from basic tables in MS Excel to complex software integration such as MS Access, NVivo. Whether the format is one that you chose or was chosen for you, it is not as important as the components it contains. In other words, regardless of the format every storyboard should capture these important elements to work effectively:

Learning Content

It might seem obvious, but the content component of a storyboard provides the subject matter expert with the opportunity to see exactly what the message is going to be and how it is going to be presented. It is their opportunity to review and approve before development begins.

Sometimes our clients don’t even know what the content should be, but know they want to have a course for their staff (i.e. Diversity training, Mental Health, and team building.). For these types, we are able to provide the research and expertise in a course design that aligns with nationally/ internationally recognized standards.

Technically intense courses specific to your particular business can also be hard to develop, especially if your business is unique or for fear of losing key industrial advantages you have either developed or patented. We are able to take the most complex systems and processes and develop a streamlined instructional process that is scaffolded to meet your needs and continue to meet them for years to come with course and staff competency evaluations.

Style, visuals and navigation

The old adage - 'a picture is worth a thousand words' holds true in story boarding. Visuals should include the graphical elements being presented on a page including size and color of font; backgrounds and navigation, images, drawings, text placement and anything else that helps to tell the story. We have artists who will custom create a wide variety of material from technical graphics to cartoons to get your message and instructional objectives across.

Narration

This may not apply to all eLearning projects, but if your course includes voice-over talent or closed captions, including narration in your storyboard is important for both the subject matter experts and the developers.

Course Evaluation

This also might not apply to all courses we develop as some courses are requested by the client to be pass/fail, while others might require a lengthy evaluation confirming knowledge and skill acquisition. We have developed complex course evaluations ranging up to 80 multiple choice questions within a 400 question bank to make a more robust evaluation and quality assurance.

Academic Integrity

As technology does its part to reshape the parameters and definitions of academic integrity, it is critical to remain committed to academic integrity while also mining the vast contributions technology has made to higher and adult education. In today’s world, students can enter a keyword into any search engine and pull up hundreds, if not thousands, of sources with a huge range of relative value. This de facto environment of the “collective intelligence” requires a renewed vigilance and renewed commitment to academic integrity that takes the realities of today’s technologies into account.

I highly recommend reimagineering.com's coaching training programs. They have helped me develop as a leader and improve my performance. Truly transformative!
